The Battle of Gettysburg took place on July 1 - 3 1863 in and
around the small Pennsylvania town of Gettysburg.
This battle of the American Civil War or War Between the States,
was one of the most costly ever fought by the United States.
This battle is one of the most studied battles in history.
Many books have been written about this battle, and the battlefield
itself is one of the most visited in America. This Cdrom deals only with
the battle of Gettysburg. This CD will make research much easier, as now
you can have the map research materials right at your fingertips. You can
compare modern maps and aerial photos with old battlefield maps.

The CDROM includes the following:  
   
Modern 1:24,000 Scale USGS Topo maps of Gettysburg and the
Surrounding area. These maps show the most detail and 1 map
inch equals 2000 feet. A map viewer is included on the CD.
Quads include: Gettysburg, Biglerville, Fairfield, Mcsherrystown and
Taneytown Maryland. These maps are georeferenced for use with GPS mapping software.
   
Modern 1:100,000 scale USGS Topo map of Gettysburg (Hagerstown quad) and the surrounding area. This map show less detail but covers more
area and 1 map inch equals 1.58 miles. A map viewer is included on the CD.
 
   

Historic Battlefield maps of Gettysburg, 33 in all in the TIF
graphic file format. These images can be viewed with any software
that can open this common format. Use these maps in reports,
documents or have them printed and framed. They also can be viewed
with the included viewer.

Also included are 36 historic maps in a higher resulation format. These maps are in the JPEG 2000 and MrSid format.
