Wagonhead's Viewer Rides: let's see 'em
Updated week of June 15...
We love all kinds of wagons here, so if you drive a gazillion buck custom to a rolling salvage
yard send me a pic & description. You have nothing to lose, & it's almost like seeing your car
on TV. Well sorta like that. No, there's no prize for sending in a picture( jeesh, this ain't Who
wants to be a Gazillionaire!) but we won't knock your ride either. You should see some of my
roadhogs, oh baby, Lady Bird's turnin in her grave right now. Heres our next submission:
Wagons in media:
Wagons on MSN.com: Hey they say wagons are making a comeback, alright! article talked about
new breed of station wagons filling a "niche" -- hmmm... nicheheads? Na, does'nt sound right.
But at least the author isn't calling wagons an outdated mode of transportation. Always nice to
be noticed.

New wagon ad: Mazda's new "wagon"(they don't really call it a wagon, but a "5 sumthin") well
it's a wagon whatever they call it, I'd call it a sportwagon & it's a cool little bugger. The
commercial is cool to, with"5" runnin around the streets to the zoom zoom song. I like
it, especially the banana yellow one.

WAGON'S ON THE COVER: Hot Rod mag has caught wagon fever & features 4 wagons in this
month's edition+ cover cars. sharp rides & interesting builds,especially the merc. w a 714 !! ft.
lb. torque monster motor. 714 ft/lbs. !! man that's up there in aircraft carrier kinda power.
Anybody have a similar chevy engine sittin around gathering dust? You see I have this 67 Impala
wagon & it could use a honker like that fomoco, & well....

I'm sure if you watch 2 of the best shows on the tube, you know the main characters drive
wagons! I'm referring to That 70's Show--starring a 69 Vista Cruiser(which gets a regular visit
from Donna's tight Levi's on it's vinyl seats--lucky wagon) and a flamed & slammed 56 Chevy
wgn. on Titus, which comes on right after That 70's Show on Tues. nite. so tues. nite is
Wagonhead nite on Fox!! Some of the best parts on Titus come from car references -"but it was
a six-pack Super Bee" --any gearhead will know what Titus is talking about in these bits. Catch
em Tues. nite.

Passat wagon commercial has a injury-racked & "totalled" car owner trying to hop on the gravy
train thinking a Passat wagon owner is loaded & wants tha mint for his parking ding injury.
Passat is neat lookin wagon, & probably selling a bunch of 'em.

Along those lines, another neat looking & apparently popular new wagon is the Ford Focus
station wagon. The local Ford dealer a mile from where I'm writing this can't keep 'em on the lot;
as soon as one comes in, it's gone.
Some 17" wheels & low profile skins, maybe a flame job or trick graphics on a dark colored one --
sounds just about right. Gotta get these young'uns interested in wagons early on, just point out
how much room there is in the back for amps & sub boxes & hydraulics & whatever else they jam
into those Civics.

Oh & since Frei-man took over the helm at R & C mag, they are doing some very juicy wagon
stories. All right, Dave(to be spoken in your best Titus sound alike voice)
Other Wagon "Stuff":
Hit the wagon trail on June 9, went to Happy Days car club cruise in Gil Kollars 79 Maliboo.
We took pictures for Cruisin Times mag out of Cleveland & it was a great day & event. TONS
of cars,7(!) D.J.'s,bunches of door prizes,..we won a case of oil; something we can use, and
an estimated 2000 cars! the reason it's an estimate & probably a good one, they close the
whole 4 lane main street thru the town, cars park everywhere they can, & cars leave &
others come in to take there place through out the day.It starts at 2,goes till 10pm, but if
you are'nt there before noon, good luck finding a spot till someone leaves. All kinds of cars &
wagons-- of course. click here to see some pix.

Hit Parts a Rama last Sat.,rain in a.m., cleared up afternoon. Saw no wagons in sale corral
area, a few scattered around the swap area. Did'nt find ANY parts I needed for any of my
beasts, but even a bad day at the swap meet beats cutting the grass.
pix courtesy of Dave Lee, who just has to
torture us east coast wagonheads with
beautiful rust-free California cars. First it was
his Bermuda, now his juicy 57 Ford Country
Squire.makes an appearance here on the ol'
viewers page. I gotta get out to
Califronia/Arizona again & look for some cars.
This is a beautiful car & if it's in the same
shape as his Edsel Bermuda, he be a lucky
dog.
Show Alert!:
Even at the Ford Carlisle show, everyone was talking about the new upcoming all GM Carlisle
show this June 29-July1. It's open to ALL GM cars, & the swap spaces are all sold & car corral
registrations are already over 1,000! This looks like a great event for a Wagonheads gathering
for all GM wagon owners, a show, with a killer swap meet,Fri. night drags at a local 1/8 mile
track,& tha folks at Carlisle always do things first class. PLUS I know a place to wagon camp
right across the street from Gate 3, & the guy that runs it is a wagonhead!
I've stayed there last 2 Carlisle events, $10 park/camp in your car overnite.
