First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood provides two different forms of worship each week.

Sunday Morning Worship
The traditional Sunday morning service gives worshipers an opportunity to praise our Lord in a more structured setting, including several scripture readings, prayers, a sermon, hymns and anthems.  This is also the time where the feast of the Lord's Supper is celebrated in a communion service on the first Sunday of each month, and during most special days on the liturgical calendar.  The third Sunday of most months has become a time of non-traditional worship, where the order of worship is projected on to a large screen, music is accompanied by several instrumentalists, and the style is more relaxed. During the summer months, this service moves to 10AM.  Please join us in celebration of God's gifts and blessings, lifted up in prayer and song.

October 2008 Worship Schedule

October 5:
World Communion Sunday. We gather at the Lord’s Table with Christians around the world as we celebrate the bread and cup that unites us in Christ. The choir sings music from around the world, and
Pastor Mike preaches from Philippians 3:4b-14. Paul uses an expletive! What about? Why?

October 12:
“We are walking in the light of God.” Today is the annual CROP Walk. We’ll recognize and lift up those who will participate in the walk later this day. In today’s scripture, Philippians 4:1-9, Pastor Mike challenges us with these questions: What does it mean to “be of the same mind?” Are there some things that we must agree on?

October 19:
Our next installment of non-traditional worship. Join the worship ensemble, choir, and worship leaders as we sing, pray, and hear God’s Word proclaimed in 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10: For whom should we be an example and what kind of example should we be?

October 26:
What are my motives? What are yours? Pastor Mike leads us through an exploration of answers to these questions in a study of 1 Thessalonians 2:1-8.

Wednesday Nights at the Edge
We’re back and running with our time of song, prayer, and group discussion/study on Wednesday evenings. Two groups meet after we sing and pray in the Gathering Place: a study of the scripture to be preached upon in the upcoming Sunday worship service, and a men’s prayer discussion group using the book Everyday Simplicity. This informal and intimate time is quite meaningful and spirit-filled. Come and join us!
