Parish Life Ministry Team

The Mission of the Parish Life Ministry Team:
To provide outreach to FPCE and the community through innovative and stimulating fellowship, and educational programming.

Sunday Fellowship

The team coordinates the Fellowship hour after morning worship on Sundays by inviting families to host for particular weeks or months.

First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood Parish Life Team sponsors the Charles C. Raisig Memorial Tartan Sunday Worship Service & Celebration annually.  Following a Scottish Heritage Celebration at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church on the day before, a worship service to recognize all the contributions made by the Scots in Western Pennsylvania is held at FPCE as part of the National Tartan Day events.

This event began in 2001, and FPCE celebrates our Scottish Heritage through worship, special music and a “Wee Ceilidh” following the worship service. Gracing our church for the past 3 years, Bob Murdoch, Scottish tenor and National Tartan Day Chairman reads the Declaration of Arbroth often referred to as the “Scottish Declaration of Independence.” We celebrate with the Pittsburgh Country Dance Society, bag piping, a Scottish Sing-a-Long and Scottish refreshments.

All of lovers of anything Scottish join the celebration, wearing kilts and tartans and enjoying a great day.

The Parish Life Ministry Team, in conjunction with the Evangelism, Mission and Christian Education Ministry Teams, sponsors this community picnic event, filled with food, fellowship, and fun!
