Evangelism Ministry Team
Keeping the mission of the church always at the forefront, the Evangelism Ministry Team at First Edgewood is taking an active role in spreading the Good News of the Gospel to the Edgewood and surrounding communities!
Realizing that times are changing, and technology is an ever-increasing part of our daily lives, the Evangelism Team set out to begin a multimedia publicity blitz to get our name out to the community. Here are just a few of the ways this team is making a difference:
- Ran a continuous ad in the Edgewood Community Newsletter, inviting all to our Sunday morning and Wednesday night services, as well as listing special events.
- Created an eyecatching, trifold informational brochure about the programs and ministries of FPCE.
- Placed street signs in strategic locations directing people to the facility.
- Created this website, and connected it to Pittsburgh Presbytery and the Presbyterian Church (USA) websites.
Next, we needed to connect with the people who are active in the community, so, with the help of former chair Lou Boccio, we began planning events WITH and FOR the community, and not just planning activities ourselves and hoping that outsiders would join us. Here are a few of the events the Evangelism Team has been involved with that are making us into more of what we call ourselves...The Community Church:
Edgewood Community Day
For close to 10 years now, FPCE has been involved in this whole day event, sponsored by the Edgewood Borough. Several groups from the church have run booths, from EPYC selling sorbet, to Parish Life providing free blood pressure screenings, to the Deacons with their Kid's Korner. The Evangelism Team organizes the church's efforts with this day, and usually provides the informational literature and balloons to pass out.
