Our new email systems are working well.
If you have problems accessing your email
please contact our helpdesk at 888-594-8324

If you get our answering service please leave a message so we can call you back.   We apologize for the inconveniences and are working hard to help all our customers make use of the new systems.

We will soon be switching this page to our new web portal page as seen in this image....

You will have one click access to your webmail, account manager, news, weather, and other features.

Our user accounts have been moved to our new systems.
Most of our user accounts have had new temporary passwords assigned.  Many of the accounts now use their old login password.  All other accounts now use the customer's zip code as the temporary password.  Your login username and your previous login password will allow about half of our customers to login to the Account Management system where you can change all your passwords. (See the Important Note in the right column of this page.)  If your previous password is rejected try using your zip code.  Should that also fail you will have to call our helpdesk to have new passwords setup.

To access your email via our new webmail interface go to mail.nb.net.  Login using your email address and your email password.  (If you get a message about a server error please contact us to reset the email account.)  The webmail login page also allows you to choose either a 'simple' or an 'advanced' Interface.  We recommend selecting the 'advanced' interface.  It provides more features and strongly resembles a typical email program.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Our servers were deeply penetrated by unauthorized persons (hackers) whose activities included detection and collection of passwords.  It must be assumed that ALL passwords have been compromised.  Instructions on how to reset your login and email passwords are given below.  Please make changing your password your first priority.  (And do Not use your old password.)

Here is an excellent link on how to create strong passwords.  It also has a link to a "password tester".

Further note:  If any of the passwords you used on the old nb.net system were also used for other accounts (ie work or school computer accounts, online services, banking services, etc.) those accounts are vulnerable until you change their passwords as well.  This is why security experts discourage using one password for multiple uses.  If your password is compromised on any of the systems, all the other accounts could be accessed by those who collected the password.
Having a different password for every use can result in too many passwords to remember.  To overcome this problem you should consider using a "password safe" such as 'keepass'.  It's a free utility that lets you securely (and conveniently) keep track of your passwords.

If you have been using Outlook, or Outlook Express to get your email there are only two or three setting changes needed.

Your account name for the incoming and outgoing mail servers must be changed to be your email address.  In the past we only used the first part of your email address as the account name.  The new servers require the complete email address be used as the account name.  Your incoming and outgoing email servers must be named 'mail.nb.net'.
The location of the settings we've just discussed is found by clicking the 'Tools' menu at the top of your email program and then clicking on 'Accounts'(or 'Account Settings') near the bottom of the drop down menu.  You then click on the 'Mail' tab to see your email accounts. Click on your email account and then click on the 'Properties' or 'Change' or 'Edit' button to the right.  Now you can click on the 'Server' tab to see the server settings.  This is the screen for viewing your server settings and for changing then as discussed above.
Also make sure there is a check mark or a dot next to "My outgoing server requires authentication".  Click the "Settings" button to the right of the check mark to edit the account name used when sending email.  Change it to your email address as discussed above.
Click Apply/OK until you get back to the accounts window, then click "Close".  You should now be ready to send and receive email.
