This CDROM contains scanned .TIF files of Panoramic Views of
selected Pennsylvania towns and cities. These are drawings/paintings of 3D views
of towns done from a high point overlooking the town.

The panoramic map was a popular cartographic form used to depict U.S. and Canadian
cities and towns during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Known also
as bird's-eye views, perspective maps, and aero views,
panoramic maps are nonphotographic representations of cities portrayed as if viewed
from above at an oblique angle. Although not generally drawn to scale,
they show street patterns, individual buildings, and major landscape features in perspective.

These images are in the .TIF image file format and are quite large, averaging about
8MB in file size, and would take days to download, but you can have them on CD,
freeing up disk space. There are over 600 Megs of images on the CD.

They can be viewed and printed from any easily found paint imaging
software such as "Paint Shop Pro", Irfanview and the Windows "Imaging" software.
Windows, Mac, Linux, if your software can open files, you can view these images.
You can cut and paste the maps in WORD and other programs.
